Hiking

Yesterday it was nearly 55 degrees, so quix and I took it as a sign and went hiking along the canal. We meant to tackle section A of Billy Goat Trail, which is known for a pretty badass rock scramble, but when we got there the trail was closed. Probably it was a good thing, because when we went back to hike a less intense section of the same trail, the slush and mud made it enough of a challenge.

It was lovely to be out in the sun and fresh air and moving around without freezing or being bundled in three layers. Halfway through the hike, I had my sleeves rolled up and thought it was surreal to be looking across a river and seeing snow on the ground. It all made me realize how stagnant I had been feeling.

Today, it is warm again, and I went to the gym for a yoga class. Every time I take one, I leave wondering why on earth I don't go every chance I get. Even as inflexible as I am, it feels great to bend and twist and reach. (It was helpful that most of the class was in worse shape than I am and struggled more than I did.)

I'm thinking about metroing in to work, so that I can enjoy the outside a little more today, but having to get myself home makes me dubious about the plan.

Either way, I should have time to walk around a little, which is good. Tomorrow, it is supposed to snow.
